Heavyweight contender Daniel Dubois has split with trainer Shane McGuigan and is now working with Don Charles.

Dubois is currently the WBA "regular" champion and seemingly set to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the full title this summer.

But he will do so with a new coach in his corner after parting company with McGuigan following two years together.

The pair joined forces back in May 2021 in the wake of Dubois’ crushing defeat to Joe Joyce in November 2020.

He has since boxed four times, winning all inside the distance, including the fourth round stoppage of Trevor Bryan which gleaned the WBA strap.

Dubois tore his ACL in his last fight against Kevin Lerena in December but after battling back to full fitness he seemed to be on a collision course with Usyk alongside McGuigan.

However sources have confirmed to BoxingScene.com that the 25-year-old has left McGuigan’s Gym and teamed up with Charles who he has been working alongside for the last 'three-four weeks'.

Dubois' sister Caroline, arguably the hottest prospect in women’s boxing, will continue to be trained by Mcguigan and took part in a media workout with her coach on Monday.

Charles is best known for his work alongside another British heavyweight Dereck Chisora, who picked up British and European titles under his watch.

And his first assignment alongside Dubois looks set to be a crack at Usyk’s WBA, WBO, IBO and IBF world heavyweight titles.

With no agreement on a deal reached between Dubois and Usyk, the WBA have now confirmed that a purse bid will be held in Houston, Texas on May 25 to decide who stages the contest.

As champion, Usyk will receive 75 percent of the winning bid while Dubois will pocket the remaining 25 percent.
