Carlos Rivera (13-3) pounded out an exciting eight round decision over local veteran Carlos Diaz (9-13) in the main event at a sold out A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, Florida. Rivera dropped Diaz in the second round after an explosive exchange.  Diaz was able to recover and hurt Rivera in the fourth. 

After eight brutal rounds that left the crowd on their feet Rivera won a unanimous decision.

 

Welterweight prospect Keith Thurman (6-0) continued his ruthless onslaught through the division, scoring his sixth 1st-round knockout in as many fights. His latest victim was late sub Jayson Jordan (6-23-3), who got nailed with a massive right hand that put him down for the full ten count.

Thurman has drawn rave reviews from all onlookers, and continues to surpass already high expectations with each passing bout.

"There is no prospect in the welterweight division that can beat this kid,” insists Shea Bailey of Starfight Productions. “It is not a matter of if he will win a world title but when." 

Already a huge crowd favorite it will be exciting to watch this young man develop further.

 

Undercard results:

Gainesville (GA)-based lightweight prospect Tyrese Hendrix (13-0-1)  won a unanimous decision over Ohio’s James Helms (6-2-1).  Judges had it scored 59-55, 59-55, 58-56.

 

Undfeated middleweight prospect Ahsandi Gibbs (8-0) scored a 4th round knockout over Ben Aragon (7-11).

 

Local favorite Nick Iannuzzi (7-0) won a six-round unanimous decision over heavyweight Dione Craig (4-13). All of Ianuzzi’s pro fights have taken place at the A La Carte Pavilion.

 

Crowd pleasing featherweight Jenna Shiver (7-3) scored an impressive 4th round knockout over Renee Douglas (11-6).

 

In a minor upset, Earl Ladson (14-18) took a unanimous decision over local favorite Jason Barnett (10-8) in their four round heavyweight tilt.
