Adviser Sebastián Contursi has confirmed a recent report on BoxingScene.com, that WBA "regular" junior welterweight champion Marcos "El Chino" Maidana is possibly going to stay busy by defending his title on September 16 in Villa Ballester, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Maidana was scheduled to fight Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero on August 27th, but Guerrero suffered a left shoulder injury last week and withdrew.

Speaking with Carlos Irusta, Contursi said - "It will be September 16 in Villa Ballester, where Maidana will defend his title so we don't lose the preparation [time] that he did. We don't have an opponent right now. At the time [of Guerrero's injury], Golden Boy told us they would do their best to try to find an opponent for the same date of August 27 and keep the evening. But it was really difficult to do in a week. We asked if he would be able to get a date for 'El Chino' in the coming weeks, because he is ready. But they said it was very difficult to get one in the U.S. It's a shame. Then, immediately we received a call from Argentina, who showed us their support, and then we decided to fight in the country."

Finally, Contursi had some words for the current WBA/IBF 140-pound champion, Amir Khan, who had made some recent accusations against Maidana paying off Guerrero to step aside from their scheduled fight.

"As 'El Chino' said on his Twitter account - it is easier to talk than to fight. Khan has an obsession with Maidana, and does the opposite of what he preaches. All I'm saying is that Khan, one of the darlings of Golden Boy, has a date on December 10. If you really want to fight, it takes nothing more than a phone call."
