This past Saturday night, "Showtime" Shawn Porter (28-2-1) took care of business when he defeated the rugged Adrian Granados (18-6-2) via unanimous decision. The fight took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY and the final scores were 117-111 on all three scorecards.

The fight was the second of the year for Porter. In the spring at the same arena, he stopped former champion Andre Berto in 9 rounds.  That win was a bounce back from his June, 2016 narrow points loss to WBA/WBC welterweight champion Keith Thurman.

The 30-year-old Porter has openly campaigned for a rematch against Thurman ever since the loss. He lost the fight 115-113 on all three cards in a bout than some observers felt could have gone either way.

Porter is  in a good position as the mandatory challenger to Thurman's WBC title and he believes that his mandatory status along with his victories over Berto and Granados are more than enough to secure his coveted rematch.

"Most definitely. You take a look at someone like Andre Berto who has competed with the elite of the elites and look at what I did to him. A performance like that against Andre Berto and you follow it up against Adrian Grandados I will be right back where I was knocking on Keith's door and I might even take a road trip down to St. Pete to see my man and make sure he is alright and see if we can do this," Porter told BoxingScene.com.

Thurman last fought in March when edged out Danny Garcia to unify titles.  He has been sidelined since that fight with a right elbow injury. He had surgery on his elbow in May and is looking at a return to the ring in the first quarter of 2018 in a tune up bout.
