Earlier this month as the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, former IBF welterweight world champion Shawn Porter overcame a bad hand injury to outwork and decision Adrian Granados over the twelve round distance.

Porter (28-2-1, 17 KOs) injured his left hand in the sixth round, but continues to take the fight to Granados (18-6-2, 12 KOs), who was more than willing to trade punches. All three judges saw it 117-111 for Porter.

Porter is the WBC's mandatory challenger to their world champion, Keith Thurman (28-0, 22 KOs).

Porter is hungry for revenge after losing a close decision to Thurman in June 2016, at Barclays Center, in of the best fights of last year.

He's now won two straight, after blowing through former world champion Andre Berto back in April.

Thurman has been inactive since split-decision win over Danny Garcia (33-1, 19 KOs) in March - which allowed Thurman to unify the WBC, WBA world titles.

The following month Thurman underwent surgery for an elbow injury and he's been on the shelf ever since. He's expected to return in the first quarter of 2018.

"Right now, the majority of what I do is geared around fighting Keith Thurman again. We're ready for Keith Thurman as soon as possible. That's the big one," Porter told Premier Boxing Champions.

Thurman is unlikely to fight Porter next, so the waiting game will continue. The only other fighter on Porter's radar is Danny Garcia.

The WBC wanted Porter and Garcia to take part in a final welterweight eliminator, but Garcia wasn't too interested in that. There is some talk of Garcia coming back next month or in January - against former champion Brandon Rios.

"Keith Thurman and Danny Garcia are the two names I've wanted for a long time," said Porter. "Big names, big fights all the way around. We're going to wait around for Keith Thurman, but, right now, the only other guy I want is Danny Garcia."
