Defending WBA 'regular' super bantamweight champion, Scott Quigg, fresh off his two round destruction of Kiko Martinez on July 18th, is currently in Los Angeles, making his annual pilgrimage to all the gyms in Southern California. In his future could be a showdown against the accomplished Nonito Donaire in the fall.

"I think we're pretty close," Quigg said outside the Wild Card Boxing Club on Wednesday afternoon. "Bob Arum's going over to the UK in a few days to speak with Eddie (Hearn) so hopefully something can be made. We're close because both teams want the fight.''

According to Quigg, who has a record of 31-0-2(23 KO's), this match-up could take place," on the 21st of November in Manchester. So hopefully it can happen in England on that day."

When Arum - who promotes 'the Filipino Flash' - was contacted, he did confirm that on his way back from his vacation in Spain that he would be in London to speak with Hearn next weekend. He says that while both boxers certainly want the fight - "The question is: does the money work? And that's what we're going to see."

So does it work best in the UK, Dubai or the States?

"Well again, that remains to be seen. I got a call from my Filipino partners last night, the television, and they want to do it in Dubai. So there's no hurry, we'll just see."

As for how his dealings to bring a fight card to Dubai are going, Arum stated - "Everything is being worked on. If it's Donaire and Quigg, that would be a different kind of show and it would be the main event and it would be produced by Filipino television."

Donaire (35-3, 23 KO's), a multi-division world champion has won two straight bout since losing this WBA featherweight belt to Nicholas Walters last October. He just recently stopped Anthony Settoul in two rounds on July 18th in Macao.
