Ruslan "Siberian Rocky" Provodnikov (23-3, 16KOs) was very happy with the way his Wild Card stablemate, Manny Pacquiao, handled Chris Algieri (20-1, 8KOs) on Saturday in Macau, China. Algieri was knocked down six times and lost a very lopsided twelve round decision on scores of 120-102, 119-103, 119-103.

Provodnikov, who held the WBO 140-pound champion, faced Algieri back in June. He dropped Algieri twice in the first round and came close to finishing him off but Algieri survived and managed to pull out a twelve round split decision win. Provodnikov, and his trainer Freddie Roach (who also trains Pacquiao), believe they were robbed on the cards.

Before Algieri stepped in the ring with Pacquiao, Provodnikov made a prediction that Algieri would "get taught a lesson" once the bell rang.

He felt Algieri and his team were very cocky and overconfident about their chances to beat Pacquiao.

"I'm very happy [that Algieri was taught a lesson]. I am in no way gloating, but I'm happy. And I have already said that in life I'm positive that everything will get put in its place. And so it happened. Now everyone is where they should. You have to behave modestly. You need to learn. Algieri thought he was on top of the world, and he suffered greatly. In the end, he lost the championship. One has to be modest and behave with dignity. There are a lot of world champions. We do not even know them all, but we know a true warrior and the superstars who behave in the championship arena, do the work in the ring - and not just work with their words outside of the ring," Provodnikov said.

This coming Friday, Provodnikov returns to the ring against Mexican warrior Jose Luis Castillo.
