Turki Alalshikh, a self-confessed lover of heavyweight boxing, hopes to match one of the sport’s brightest talents against one of its most destructive punchers on August 3.

Alalshikh confirmed Jared Anderson as the most recent addition to the August 3 card at the BMO Arena in Los Angeles, California. The event will be headlined by Terence Crawford’s WBA super-welterweight title challenge against Israil Madrimov.

Anderson ( 17-0, 15 KOs) was last in action on April 13 in Corpus Christi, Texas, in a lackluster fight against Ryad Merhy. He won a wide unanimous decision against the Belgian.

Alalshikh confirmed Anderson’s inclusion on the August 3 bill via X, posting a statement alongside a photo of the pair together.

The chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority hopes to match the talented Anderson against former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, providing Wilder (43-3-1, 42 KOs) comes through his June 1 encounter against Zhilei Zhang (26-2-1, 21 KOs)

Wilder hopes to return to winning ways against Zhang following his disappointing performance against Joseph Parker on December 23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Parker outpointed and outfought Wilder comprehensively over twelve rounds to continue his renaissance in form after his September 2022 knockout defeat to Joe Joyce.

Wilder-Zhang is part of the highly anticipated Matchroom vs. Queensberry 5 vs. 5 event, which will act as the undercard to the undisputed light-heavyweight title fight between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol in Riyad on June 1.

However, despite Alalshikh’s wishes of an all-star American heavyweight dust-up, Wilder must come through his scheduled encounter with Zhang unscathed for the fight to proceed on August 3.

“The talented Jared Anderson is with us now on August 3rd Riyadh Season card at LA against the ‘Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder – if he’s ready by then to fight after June 1’s fight against Zhilei Zhang,” Alalshikh posted on X.

“I always believe that boxing would be at its peak when you have young American heavyweights like Jared Anderson, which I also believe in his talent and his promising future. My advice to him, focus on your future, training and commitment, and you will reach to your goals.

“Happy to collaborate with Top Rank again – Riyadh Season card August 3 in LA, will be one for the history!”
