The lightweight division is getting to be a crowded place. With champions like Terry Flanagan. Anthony Crolla and Dejan Zlatacanin, the division could be wide open. Jorge Linares is still roaming around as the WBC Champion in recess.

The division is also booming with up and coming prospects like Felix Verdejo, Saul Rodriguez, Robert Easter, and Like Campbell. The division is also open to recent returnee Mikey Garcia and even a veteran like Juan Diaz.

Diaz (42-4, 21 KO’s) who took time out of boxing after his defeat to legend Juan Manuel Marquez in 2010, left the ring for 3 ½ years only to return in 2013. He then took another 18 months off from the ring. The layoff he says has benefited him in that he feels he is a young 32.

Diaz is also back to the basics and fundamentals, where he feels hey may have missed that in the wars he got in beforehand. Diaz won his 7th straight both this past weekend and there still is a hunger for a world title.

“I looked very good Saturday night,” Diaz told BoxingScene.com. “And that's not the best Baby Bull. I am working very hard with my trainers on basics and fundamentals which I got away from and adding it back into my all-out fighting style. What you’re getting is the 2005 Baby Bull but stronger and smarter. Remember, I had a 3 year and an 18 month layoff so I feel I am still a young 32. Don't count me out cause I am hungry for that world title.”

Diaz has thoughts of fighting WBO lightweight champion Flanagan. The WBO ordered a fight between Flanagan and Verdejo but Verdejo suffered injuries from a motorcycle accident. Diaz would love to jump right in and dethrone Flanagan.

“I would like to wish Verdejo a speedy recovery,” Diaz said. “But in the meanwhile, here I am, ready to fight any one and I have proven in my 7 comeback fights that I still have what it takes to be a champion. I would love to take Verdejo's place and be the one to fight Flanagan.”

Diaz says he’s ready to take his show in the road to England for anyone of the British world champions at 135.

“I don't mind going to England and facing Flanagan, Corolla or any other champion.”
