Lightweight contender Juan Diaz will fight Cesar Vazquez on August 6, Top Rank matchmaker Brad Goodman told BoxingScene.com late Wednesday night.

The 10 round bout will take place at the Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Ariz.

Diaz-Vasquez will top a 'Solo Boxeo' card and will air on UniMas, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/ PT.

Diaz (41-4, 20 KOs) returned to the ring on March 19 in his hometown of Houston, stopping Fernando Garcia in the ninth round. It was Diaz's first fight in over 18 months, as he was on the mend from rotator cuff surgery in his left shoulder.

Diaz was in line for to face Takahiro Ao for a world title before the injury last year and it will be interesting to see how long it will take until he gets another crack at a world title. He is currently not ranked by any of the sanctioning bodies.

He has won his last six bouts in a row over the span of three years. He has not lost since July of 2010 when he lost a one-sided decision to Juan Manuel Marquez.

Vazquez (27-3, 16 KOs) has not fought in about 13 months, when he won a six round split decision over Alem Robles.

The 30-year-old Vazquez has won back-to-back bouts after losing three fights in a row, all by knockout. His most notable bouts include losses to Juan Carlos Burgos and Adrian Estrella.

August 6 will mark the second time Vazquez will fight outside of Mexico, where he resides in Mexicali.
