Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport tells Daily Mail that he is 'more hopeful than ever before' that a huge showdown between super bantamweight champions Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton will actually happen.

Hearn has tried to make the fight in the past but there is a lot of tension with Frampton's promoter, Barry McGuigan, and the two sides have been unable to reach an understanding on the financial terms.

A few months ago, Frampton got on board with powerful adviser/manager Al Haymon, who has a very good working relationship with Hearn. Several of Hearn's fighters, like James DeGale and Lee Selby, have signed on with Haymon in recent weeks.

Hearn spoke with Haymon about the possibility of doing the fight and said their discussion was "very positive."

Frampton is not the only option. Hearn recently met with Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum to discuss the possibility of Quigg facing former champion Nonito Donaire.

Hearn wants to bring Quigg back in a major fight on November 21 in Manchester or December 12 in London.

Hearn said: 'I have held numerous conversations with Al Haymon and there is a lot more positivity around the fight. Communications are open and various ideas have been discussed. I have more hope than ever before that this can be made so let's wait and see."

'But we are not putting all our eggs in one basket. I met with Bob Arum in London to speak about Quigg fighting Donaire in November. Frampton is the priority but this would be a huge fight as well. We have discussed some ideas, like Dubai and Manchester and Donaire has no problem with fighting in the UK. We'll see how it plays out – both are excellent fights. Frampton is our preferred option, whether that is this winter or next spring."
