28-year-old EBU Heavyweight Champion Alexander Dmitrenko of Ukraine discussed why he turned down a fight with IBF/IBO/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko for December and why he's not interested in the IBF's tournament to crown a mandatory challenger to Klitschko. Dimitrenko is the third fighter to turn down the tournament. Denis Boytsov and Jean-Marc Mormeck have also turned down the tournament offer as well. Dimitrenko is focused on defending his title against Polish boxer Albert Sosnowski in early December.

-Alexander, recently the International Boxing Federation (IBF) has decided to appoint a new qualifying tournament, the winner of which will become mandatory challenger for the title of the organization's heavyweight champion, now owned by Could tell how negotiations are going on?

Yes, I received such a proposal, but I do not plan to participate in this tournament.

-Can explain the reason for this decision?

The fact is that I did not like the idea of holding such tournaments, where participants sign a complex contract, which at any moment can turn into something unproductive in his career. For confirmation look no further than necessary, for example, at what we are now seeing with the tournament in the second stage of the Super Six Boxing World Classic. The situation here is similar, and by agreeing to participate in the tournament, I could not hold any fights outside of its scope. That is, in the event of of injury of my opponent or the postponement of the fight for any reason, I would just sit around and wait until I was finally able to enter the ring.

- But on the other hand you have an opportunity to enter the ring against a boxer who inflicted the only defeat you in your career ...

— A rematch with Eddie Chambers - is the fight that I wish with all my heart. We are constantly in touch with the management of Chambers and I think that there will be a time when we can arrange a rematch. I really need this fight and promise that I will go up against him in quite a different form and with a completely different attitude.

— The prize winner of the tournament, which becomes the mandatory challenger for the IBF title and gets the opportunity to enter the ring against Wladimir Klitschko?

— Our paths will cross sooner or later with Wladimir. I do not doubt it. The fight against Klitschko stands out in my plans and I will do everything to make it happen. But only on mutually beneficial terms, not those being offered by K2 Promotions.

-By the way, why did you not accept the conditions of the match against Wladimir on December 11th?

— Yes, K2 Promotions came out with a proposal to my promotional company Universum, but for the money, which they suggested, Wladimir may as well have been shadow Frankly, this proposal simply can not be taken serious. Derek Chisora, by the way, too, at first refused to fight against Wladimir, but then the promotional company of Klitschko brothers changed the amount of his fee and an agreement was reached

-Alexander, do you think Chisora can cause problems for Klitschko?

- Absolutely not. I sparred with Chisora and I know what kind of boxer he is. And one look at his track record makes things clear.
