YAKUZA INVOLVED IN NAVARRO-KAWASHIMA FIGHT

In a business where snakes are the dominant force, there are some good guys who at times can lose sight of what’s right and wrong!  That being said, I’m taking Promoter Lou Di Bella to task for his handling of the situation his client Jose Navarro finds himself in.  A 2000 Olympian, Navarro traveled to Japan in order to take on WBC 115 lb. titleholder Katsushigie Kawashima on January 3rd.  After 12 pretty one-sided rounds, anybody outside of the late Ray Charles could clearly see that Navarro won nine heats at the very minimum!  The outcome of this fight isn’t one we can even debate, that’s how decisive a performance was put forth by Navarro.

JUDGES HAD TO KNOW OF YAKUZA & THE JUNE FIGHT!

That being fact, incredibly two Judges appointed by the Mexico City based World Boxing Council gave the Japanese fighter Kawashima the fight!  Gelasio Pérez of Mexico had it 115-114.  The Thai Judge Noppharat Sricharoen, he came up with Kawashima winning 115-113.  And while the source cannot say if Perez and Sricharoen actually took money, I was advised that they both took somewhat expensive gifts home with them.  “They didn’t have to be told who to score for, they knew going in,” said somebody in attendance.

“POPE LOUIE” DROPPED THE BALL HERE FOLKS!

And here is where I find Di Bella at fault as he made some noise prior to even seeing the Navarro-Kawashima fight on tape.  But he has essentially been mute since!  And when I called him at his lair Monday morning, there was no fire in his voice when I put him on the carpet for his not being vocal enough for Navarro!

LIKE MOST PEOPLE, DI BELLA HEARS WHAT HE WANTS!

With a 20-second attention span pertaining to things he chooses not to discuss, Di Bella said this.  “They have announced Kawashima and the other Japanese guy for June.  They’re selling tickets already I think.”  Before rushing off the phone Lou said, “Do you think the ‘BC is going to stop that?”  Could it be that Lou has come to accept the wrongs in boxing, AKA the status quo?  Posturing as if he has done all he can in this instance, Di Bella really needs to put so much heat on the WBC that they mandate an “Immediate Rematch.”  That can be done with a Lawsuit!

BY NOW, THE WORLD SHOULD KNOW OF THE INJUSTICE!

For if this were my client, and the WBC had done this to him, I would have already filed a Suit in Federal Court charging the organization with being an “Ongoing Criminal Enterprise!”  In other words, go after the Sulaiman group Civilly by using some components of the Anti-Racketeering “RICO Act.”  Lou should have gotten 25 copies of the fight with an English voiceover and sent them to powerful people in the Media, every major Hispanic group with clout, boxing fan Senator John Mc Cain, in addition to the elected officials from Jose’s home state of California.

CABLE NETWORKS WOULD SHOW FIGHT GRATIS!

And seeing Cable outlets like the Sunshine Network would air this fight in a second for free, why has Navarro-Kawashima only been shown in English here at www.RingTalk.com?  Having been friends with Lou for 15-years now, this isn’t what I wanted to report as he has been one of my ardent supporters.   But folks when I heard the pain, the anguish, and yes the despair in Jose Navarro’s voice when he appeared on “Ring Talk Radio” Sunday night, I knew then that I had to act on this as it choked me up more than just a little bit!

NAVARRO A KING OF MEN IN MANY WAYS!

This may seem like I’m knocking other fighters, and I’m not.  But as I sit here in January 2005, it’s hard for me to think of a finer young man in boxing than this 23-year old from Los Angeles Jose Navarro.  Having watched him fight since he was in the early stages of his amateur career, I can tell you that Jose put it all together in the Kawashima fight.  Dominant, and showing world-class skills, Navarro clearly defeated the gritty Japanese fighter in a contest that could be best described as an entertaining rout!

JAPANESE MOB MADE THEIR PRESENCE & WISHES KNOWN!

I am reversing my opinion of last week.  Based on a chat I had with somebody that was in Japan, the fight was FIXED!  My sources tell me that elements of the Japanese Mafia were involved.  That before Navarro even laced up the gloves January 3rd, that the Japanese had a June date set with Kawashima meeting countryman Masamori Tokuyama in a rubber match.  This is being billed as the biggest fight in Japanese history.  Now can you see why it was necessary to make sure that at least two people of importance knew EXACTLY what was already set for June!

RELEASING SULAIMAN’S HOME PHONE & CELL TOO!

This being Monday, I’m going to give the WBC five business days to review the tape and order an “Immediate Rematch.”  I will also give Jose and Mauricio Sulaiman the option of making Navarro the “Interim” champion.  Giving Jose a belt and the “Interim” title, and at the same time the WBC must acknowledge the fact their Judges either were wrong, inept, or criminal.

WE CAN ALL START CALLING AT 3 IN THE MORNING!

Anything short of this will have me publishing the home, business, cellular phone numbers, email addresses, etc., of Jose & Mauricio Sulaiman, this in addition to WBC Officers like Rex Walker, Rueben Martinez, Peter Stuki, Mario Betti, and at least ten other WBC cronies!  The intent is to put this in the hands of you the fans so hundreds of phone calls, emails, and even nasty snail mail can be sent to these heathens!  Hopefully we can get the bastards to right the wrong and rightfully declare Jose Navarro WBC 115lb.champion!

BETTER READ MY LIPS JOSE, MAURICIO, & REX!

In closing, I hope the WBC reacts in kind.  Cause if they don’t, I intend to make it my life-long mission to neuter, if not to outright rid boxing of the WBC, which should really be called the World of Bunco and Chicanery!  Right the wrong or pay the price Senor Sulaiman, it’s your call!

GREG’S LAME EXCUSE FOR AIRING FIGHT IN JAPANESE!

Instead of Greg Leon admitting to the paying readers at Boxing Talk that he lacks the expertise, talent, or budget to put the Navarro-Kawashima fight on his website in English so that the non-Japanese speaking folks could understand it, he came up with a response so lame that you just knew it was a Greg Leon original!  “We’re airing the fight in Japanese in order to let the viewer realize how bias it was!”  Need I say anything more?
