Former champion and future Hall of Famer Ronald "Winky" Wright is friends with Amir Khan, but he's unsure if the British boxer is packing enough power to fend off the incoming charge of Manny Pacquiao.

Khan is one of the candidates under consideration to face Pacquiao in what is going to be the Filipino boxer's final bout in the first quarter of 2016.

Pacquiao and Khan are former sparring partners. They traded punches when both were trained by Freddie Roach of the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California. Khan left Roach in 2012 and hooked up with Virgil Hunter.

Khan has all of the physical advantages and he's likely the faster fighter, but Pacquiao packs a big punch and Khan's chin is often under the microscope due to his knockout defeats and multiple knockdowns on his record.

They share a mutual opponent in Chris Algieri. Pacquiao won a very lopsided decision. He dropped Algieri six times and nearly stopped him in the later rounds. Khan also won a twelve round decision. Algieri wasn't an easy touch for Khan, who had a much tougher time than many had expected and never had Algieri in serious trouble.

"I like both fighters, they’re good fighters. If I had to bet, I’m gonna have to bet on Pacquiao, he’s just a little monster, but Amir Khan is a good little fighter man, he throws a lot of punches and I like him and I’m friends with him. I don’t know if Amir’s got the power to keep Pacquiao off of him, because Pacquiao’s coming to knock you out. Can Amir hurt him enough or stun him enough to make him respect him?," Wright told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"At this time I would have to lean towards Pacquiao, but you never know. I like Amir, I think he’s a very good fighter, it just takes a lot of time for these fighters to become great. Amir is a very good fighter that has talent to become a great fighter."
