David Haye is in advanced negotiations to fight Wladimir Kltischko, his manager and trainer Adam Booth has revealed. According to Booth the fight will take place in the summer of 2009, depending on whether Haye and Kltischko can overcome their next opponents. In an interview on Setanta Sports News during Steve Bunce’s Boxing Hour Booth admitted ‘we’ve had communication’.

“We’ve discussed the fight happening next year in June, possibly in England and possibly at a football stadium. It’s clear that there’s pressure on David and the message is this, beating Monte Barrett isn’t good enough. He’s got to beat him and look good doing it."

“Everyday now we’re hell bent on making sure David does what he has to do in the gym to make it happen.”

Booth added that he had spoken with Klitschko’s people on a number of times and that all parties involved wanted the fight to take place.

“David has to do a job on November 15th at the O2 against Monte Barrett. Ift he does job we then go to watch Klitschko."

“If Klitschko beats Povetkin, which I’m confident that he will, then we’re going to sit down straight away and discuss one of the most exciting British fights to take place in recent years.”
