Willie Limond is not yet down and out.

The former British, Commonwealth and EU king, 37, is still looking for a that final fight of satisfaction before he hangs up the gloves for good.

Limond (39-5, 11 KOs) was last in action in May when he was stopped inside nine rounds by Tyrone Nurse in a challenge for the British super-lightweight title, exclusively live on Sky Sports.

And despite announcing after that fight that he wouldn’t box again, the ex-WBU world champion has had a change of heart.

"I'll be fighting a fighter who is ranked in the top five in the world in Liverpool next February," Limond exclusively told Boxing Scene while at the St Andrew’s Sporting Club dinner show in Glasgow on Thursday.

The Liverpool show mentioned by Limond is rumoured to be staged at the ECHO Arena, with a headline act yet to be confirmed after it was revealed on Friday that WBC cruiserweight king Tony Bellew will move up to heavyweight to clash with David Haye at London's O2 Arena on March 4, while Matchroom Boxing’s head honcho Eddie Hearn revealed earlier this week that heavyweight hometown man David Price has been offered the fight against Luis Ortiz for the show, providing the Cuban –– who signed with Hearn earlier in the autumn –– gets past his scheduled December 10 clash against Conisbrough’s Dave Allen.

“I came up short last time against Tyrone Nurse,” Limond continued. “However, there is still fight in me and I still believe I have a world title in me.”

The man in the opposite corner to Limond on that date to be confirmed in February could be the winner of Andrea Scarpa and Ohara Davies who box on Saturday, at the SSE Wembley Arena in London, for the Italian’s WBC Silver belt, but an official announcement will be made in due course.

A clash between Ohara Davies and Willie Limond was mooted for the undercard of Ricky Burns vs. Kiryl Relikh in October, but it never came to fruition.

Despite only being speculation as of now, the signs appear that Glasgow's Limond could challenge the winner of this weekend's contest in London.

Further details regarding the next show in Liverpool will be revealed by Matchroom Sport soon.
