The Theater, Madison Square Garden, New York City - Victor Salazar catches up with undefeated lightweight prospects Felix Verdejo (18-0, 13KOs), who made his HBO debut with a ten round unanimous decision over game Ivan Najera (16-1, 8KOs). The scores were 100-88, 100-88, and 99-89.

Verdejo started with a good jab from the distance, as Najera was coming forward with pressure but staying smart with his hands up. In the second round, Najera started letting his hands go and Verdejo was willing to oblige his request by firing back with the harder, more accurate punches.  In the third, Najera continue to coming forward with pressure and was eating good jabs and check hooks.

Verdejo was going to work in the fourth after Najera landed a hard body shot. The Puerto Rican prospect started unloading with both hands and had Najera buzzed with a few big shots. They were trading heavy shots in the final ten seconds. More of the same in the fifth, with the two fighters trading punches and Najera was dropped for the first time in the fight. Verdejo was getting the better of the exchanges and doing more damage. The pace slowed down a bit in the sixth. Verdejo still in full control and Najera continued to come forward looking for something big.

In the seventh, a left hook dropped Najera. He beat the count and recovered well. From that point on, Verdejo controlled the action by outboxing Najera to the final bell.
