K2 Promotions head Tom Loeffler, who handles IBF, IBO, WBA, WBC middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) has not faced any resistance with finalizing a possible June unification with WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders in Kazakhstan.

In several media interviews, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya has warned Golovkin that should he go forward with a planned fight against Saunders, then a September showdown with Canelo was off the table.

But De La Hoya's position has never come up during Loeffler's ongoing conversations with Golden Boy President Eric Gomez.

Loeffler said it's hard to take a pass on Saunders when there is no finalized deal with Canelo, who himself will fight on May 6th against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

“Oscar said it in media, but it hasn’t really reflected in my discussions with Golden Boy, with Eric Gomez. If Gennady can accomplish his dream and fight in June and unify the titles, then he’ll go ahead and do that. If we can make a fight [with Saunders]... we don’t even have a fight signed with Canelo yet. It’s hard to say we’ll forgo a fight [with Saunders] when we don’t even have a fight signed [with Canelo],” said Loeffler to BoxingScene.com.

Saunders has been calling on Golovkin to "show he has a set of balls" and sign the contract. He claims to have agreed to everything that was demanded, including the financial terms. Loeffler is working out the remaining items with Saunders' promoter, Frank Warren.

“If we could do a fight against Billy Joe Saunders.... we tried to do it last year. Now we see that Billy is very active on social media and he likes doing the videos. If he sees something that makes him think that he can win the fight, that's great. That’s been Gennady’s dream  - to unify the titles. And it's the same thing with Canelo. If we can make the Canelo fight..... we would have loved to do the Canelo fight last year, but if we could do it in September of this year - then we’ll do it,” said Loeffler.
