Mérida.- WBC and WBO Latin heavyweight champion and unbeaten Tyron Spong reported himself ready to reappear on the ring this Saturday in this city in south eastern Mexico, after a forced inactivity of eight months. The boxer is promoted by A&T Promotions.

Spong, the WBO's fourth world ranked, said he is ready and recovered from a right hand injury that got fractured last December 21 in his hometown of Paramaribo.

This happened when he defended his belts against Ecuadorian Ytalo Perea, who was the first of the 13 rivals he Spong faced, which he could not knock out.

"I feel fine and I'm happy, ready to continue my career in big places, but first my opponent has my focus on Saturday," Spong said when he arrived to Merida this Wednesday, referring to Ecuatorian Jeyson "The Executioner" Minda (14-1-1 8 KOs).

The South American, who arrived from Miami, United States, accompanied by his manager Pedro Díaz and his promoter, Andrew Pérez, acknowledged that he is looking for a future opportunity for the WBO world title held by Andy Ruiz, who also has the IBF, WBA, IBO titles.

"Ruiz already has a commitment at the end of the year in Saudi Arabia, as he will have to give Anthony Joshua a rematch, but next year we will see," added Spong.

Spong (13-0-0 with 12 KOs) spared no praise for Ruiz whom he considered a warrior and a great boxer, worthy of sitting on the most coveted throne of boxing.

Spong will be involved in one of the two main fights of the card presented by Armor Box, at 6:30 PM local time, in the Polyfunctional Arena of this city, where there will be another 10 fights.

The president of Armor Box, Emmanuel Alcantara, led a press conference to present the card with the local boxers who will take part in that event.

Among them was the other star of that show, Alberto "Veneno" López and other boxers who will take part in the same event, among them Silvestre "Vampiro" Cámara, Alexis "Naricitas" Pech and Mario Andrade.
