Tristan Kalkreuth remains a tall order on the prospect level.

The 6’4” cruiserweight enjoyed his second straight quick ending in his home region, blasting out Dustin Long inside of one round Saturday evening at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

A series of power shots was punctuated by a left hook which put Long down and out at 1:18 of round one.

Kalkreuth—who hails from nearby Duncanville and is trained by Ronnie Shields—needed just 50 seconds for his last ring appearance, which came on the undercard of Ryan Garcia’s knockout win over Luke Campbell this past January in Dallas. The 19-year-old cruiserweight was eager to end things just as early, immediately taking the fight to Long who was clearly well out of his depth. The Johnson City, Tennessee product is generally laid back outside the ring, though his lack of urgency didn’t at all serve him well against the best opponent of his career to date.

Kalkreuth went on the attack, scoring a series of power punches against a cornered Long before willing him to the canvas. Long fell under the bottom rope and laid flat on his back as he was counted out. Kalkreuth celebrated with his customary backflip, although the celebration quickly shifted to concern as Long remained on the canvas for several minutes after the knockout sequence.

Once stabilized, Long (4-2-2, 3KOs) was transferred to a gurney by ringside paramedics who wheeled him to an assigned ambulance to be taken to a nearby hospital for observation.

The win advances Kalkreuth’s record to 8-0 (6KOs), picking up his fifth career 1st round knockout—four of which have come in his last five fights.

The bout served as the televised opener of a DAZN telecast headlined by an all-Dallas welterweight battle between Vergil Ortiz (16-0, 16KOs) and former junior welterweight titlist Maurice Hooker (27-1-3, 18KOs).
