French heavyweight prospect/contender Tony Yoka (4-0) takes on British boxer Dave Allen (10-3-2) on June 23 at the Palais des Sports de la porte de Versailles in Paris.

In the co-feature super welterweight Souleymane Cissokho (6-0) takes on an opponent to be announced.

Cissokho will later in the year challenge for the national title.

EBU light heavyweight titlist Dominic Boesel is sidelined with an achilles tendon injury and his defence against stablemate (SES) Enrico Koelling on Saturday June 9 is off. The fight will be rescheduled when the next season begins.

Instead, former WBA 154 lb ruler Jack Culcay (23-3) takes over the headliner and face Adasat Rodriguez (17-7-2) for the vacant EU middleweight title. Enrico Koelling (25-2) is now featured on the undercard against an opponent to be announced and Adam Deines (14-0-1) is in against Russian Gasan Gasanov (15-7-1).

The EBU - 70 years old this year in its current format - held its annual General Assembly - this time in Belgrade, Serbia - this past weekend. Super lightweight champ Anthony Yigit was not surprisingly named Fighter of the Year after three successful defences during 2017. Fight of the year was Agit Kabayel´s defence of the heavyweight title against Dereck Chisora and Eddie Hearn / Matchroom was named promoter of the year.

A proposal from the Swedish Federation to shorten distances for EBU title fights from twelve to ten was turned down.

Craig Thomson of CTP Boxing has just announced that he will be promoting the first 8 women heavyweight tournament in New Zealand Boxing history. After a very successful 8 man middleweight tournament in April, he has decided to do another “Dare to be Great” Tournament on October 6th in Auckland New Zealand, but this time with Heavyweight Women.

Craig Thomson who has been matchmaking and promoting in New Zealand for over 13 years, wanted to change up the New Zealand boxing scene with boxing tournaments.
