Tommy Fury couldn’t help but chuckle at the latest rant offered by longtime rival Jake Paul.

Plans for a rescheduled bout between the two have been in the works for the past several weeks according to Paul (5-0, 4KOs), who took to social media for a full-blown rant on Fury dragging his feet in agreeing to the fight. The content creator and pro cruiserweight is set to co-headline an August 6 Showtime Pay-Per-View show. Reigning WBC/WBO/IBO featherweight champ Amanda Serrano (42-2-1, 30KOs) appears in the second of the two co-main events, though opponents are not yet confirmed for either boxer.

As it relates to Paul’s fight, the unbeaten Brit assured his adversary that everything is fine.

“See you August 6th, pal,” Fury commented in quote-tweeting Paul’s posted video claiming the fight was in jeopardy.

The two were previously due to collide last December 18 atop a Showtime PPV from AMALIE Arena in Tampa. They never appeared on the same stage for two separate press conferences leading up to the event, nor did they ever share the ring as Fury (8-0, 4KOs) withdrew due to a reported chest infection and rib injury. Paul wound up facing Tyron Woodley for a second time, scoring a sixth-round knockout less than four months after boxing to an eight-round draw on the August 29 Showtime PPV card in Cleveland that also saw Fury in undercard action.

Fury’s appearance on the show—a decision win over Paul stablemate Anthony Taylor—came without the service of his usual corner. John Fury, Tommy’s father and head trainer, is not allowed in the U.S. due to a conviction in 2011 for gouging out the eye of longtime nemesis Oathie Sykes at the end of a bitter feud that extended back to 1999.

The elder Fury would not be in the corner for Tommy’s planned fight in August. There is also heavy speculation that his older brother, lineal/WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, is not allowed to enter the U.S. due to a separate matter and which was all but confirmed by the Fury family patriarch this week.

Paul didn’t understand why something that was previously clarified would now become an issue.

“Tommy, your dad has been banned from the United States for 15 years,” claimed Paul, though off by roughly four years. “You’ve known this the entire time. He’s a criminal, he’s not allowed in. When you fought Anthony Taylor in Cleveland, neither Tyson or your dad were with you. Now all of a sudden, you need your team with you. That doesn’t make any f------ sense.

“I will agree to not have any of my team around me during fight week. We can agree to not have our coaches in our corner. We can both fight solo dolo, just like Devin Haney was gonna do against George Kambosos [for their June 4 undisputed lightweight championship in Melbourne, Australia). That’s what real boxers do. Real boxers make fights f------- happen.”

According to Fury, that won’t be necessary.

“The fight is on. August 6th. Forget a team or any other bullsh!t,” insisted the 23-year-old light heavyweight, who would move up in weight for the fight. “I don’t need anybody to help me lay you flat on that canvas.

“Oh and thanks for finally signing the drug testing… you only agreed to it when you [realized] the fight was at risk - who needs who?”

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that a press conference is expected to take place Wednesday in New York City to formally announce the event—by which time both Paul and Serrano will have confirmed opponents for the a la carte event.
