Emanuel Navarrete isn’t the first fighter on anyone’s hit list. It’s simple, although he looks awkward and easy to land on, the Mexican star has proven time and time again that he isn’t some pushover. The last time he was doubted, he made oddsmakers and fans eat their words.

On August 12th, at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, many believed that the former champ was a bit too fast, too strong, and too determined to be denied. Navarrete, however, heard all of the dubious voices that were playing in the background and used it as motivation.

Ultimately, Valdez, while persistent, was outclassed - losing a wide decision. Quietly, Tevin Farmer has been paying close attention to how Navarrete’s been handling his business.

To a large extent, the now three-division champ is viewed as the best fighter at 130 pounds. Farmer, a former champion in his own right, would love to share the ring with him. As for how their clash would play out, Farmer believes that despite Navarrete throwing punches from all angles, he’ll see them coming from a mile away.

“He’s too slow,” Farmer told BoxingScene.com recently.

Following a three and a half year hiatus, Farmer shook off the cobwebs with back-to-back wins. They weren’t against world beaters, first against Avery Sparrow and the next vs. Oscar Barajas, but Farmer was happy with his performance.

No longer is the Philly native one of the younger fighters around. Bearing that in mind, Farmer wants to jump in the fast lane. Although Navarrete will give Farmer another up-close look at his skills next week when he takes on Robson Conceicao, Farmer believes he’s seen enough. And, if given the chance to swap fists with him, the now 33-year-old is convinced that he’ll dominate the current champ.

“I don’t wanna say easy 'cause boxing is boxing and anything can happen but if we speaking from a perfect world, yea, it would be easy.”
