Former two-division champion Devon Alexander (27-4) is putting the finishing touches on his training camp for his February 17th clash against Victor Ortiz (32-6-2).  The fight headlines a Premier Boxing Champions card in El Paso, Texas that will be broadcast on the free-to-air network FOX.

In November, Alexander snapped a two year hiatus from the ring with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Walter Castillo.

The win snapped a two-fight losing streak for the southpaw, who had lost a decisions to former world champion Amir Khan and then suffered another decision loss in a shocking upset to Aaron Martinez.

Alexander's trainer Kevin Cunningham expects his fighter to put on a dominant performance reminiscent of his break through performance against Juan Urango when he stopped the former champion in 2010 and Alexander's dominant decision win over Marcos Maidana in 2012.

"Yes sir.  That is the plan," said Cunningham.

If all goes well on the 17th, Cunningham expects his fighter to have a big 2018.  He hopes that a win over Ortiz will lead to a fight against the winner of the main event of Danny Garcia-Brandon Rios that takes place on the same night and will be televised by Showtime from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.

Garcia returns to the ring for the first time since suffering a twelve round split decision loss in his welterweight unification bout with Keith Thurman from last March at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Cunningham expects Garcia to leave the ring with his hand raised in that bout.

"The first order of business is to take care of Victor Ortiz in grand fashion.  If Danny Garcia gets past Brandon Rios later that night, Garcia can be next," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.
