Srisaket Sor Rungvai is set to defend his WBC super flyweight belt in the main event of ONE: ‘Kingdom of Heroes’ in Bangkok on October 6th. The 31 year old now has an opponent, he will be facing Mexico’s Iran Diaz at the Impact Arena.

Srisaket (46-4-1) looked very impressive in a ten round tune up fight last month. He needed just 2:50 to finish Young Gil Bae at Workpoint TV Studios and was back in the gym on Monday for an open workout in Nonthaburi with trainer Chokchai Pisitwuttinan.

Diaz (14-2-3) made his name with back to back wins over former flyweight world champions Luis Concepcion and Hernan Marquez. He is currently ranked #13 by the WBC and will be challenging for a major title for the first time in his career.

The show is promoted by ONE Championship and will feature a mixture of mixed martial arts (MMA), Muay Thai and kickboxing matches. All the action will take place in a ring and Srisaket’s title fight with Diaz will headline the event at the 11,000 capacity arena in Bangkok.

Srisakey has become a household name in Thailand and is the subject of some intense media attention. He split up with his long term girlfriend and fiancée earlier this year and subsequently got engaged to a new partner, with the entire saga documented in detail by the nation’s newspapers.

However any concerns that this might be distracting him from his boxing career were effectively put to bed by Srisaket’s performance last month. He won the WBC 115lbs title by beating Roman Gonzalez and has defended it twice, defeating the Nicaraguan a second time and claiming a win over Juan Estrada.
