Former two division world champion Shakur Stevenson believes some MMA fighters are getting way ahead of themselves due to last Saturday's fight between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou.

Ngannou, a former UFC champion who was making his pro debut in boxing, nearly derailed Fury in their ten round contest in Saudi Arabia.

Fury, who appeared to be underprepared, was shockingly dropped in the third round and then fought Ngannou on even terms the until the final bell.

While most expected a one-sided mismatch, Fury came away with a razor-close split decision win. The scores were 95-94 and 96-93 for Fury, with the third judge scoring 95-94 for Ngannou.

Due to Ngannou's unexpected performance, numerous MMA fighters believe the flood gates are now open to cross over and fight top level pro boxers.

Stevenson would love the opportunity to get a top level MMA fighter in the ring.

"I say if they feel that way [that they can challenge top boxers], give it a try. I think that you got some MMA guys that want to come get in the ring with somebody like me, I would love the opportunity to beat up an MMA guy and show them that there's real levels to it," 26-year-old Stevenson told Babcock on the TMZ Sports TV show (airs weekdays on FS1).

"I just think Tyson Fury was off that night and them [MMA] dudes need to relax and stay in their lane."

One UFC world champion who wants to face a top level boxer is rising star "Suga" Sean O'Malley.

Stevenson predicts a one-sided beatdown if he faces O'Malley in the ring.

"Tell him we can get it in. I'm ready to lock in with him. It's levels to this sh!t. If he wants to come try his hand, I'll beat the sh!t out of him."
