During a recent trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, WBC Diamond middleweight champion Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez (48-2-2, 27KOs) discussed his possible options for 2012. The boxer has been trying to secure a major fight against the two best boxers in the sport, Manny Pacquiao (53-3-2, 38KOs) and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs). Both of those boxers are champions at 147-pounds, but Martinez is willing to drop down as low as 150-pounds to face either man.

Regarding Pacquiao - "He said he wanted to fight me in 150 pounds. I accepted. When I reached the conclusion that I could take that weight, I accepted. And now he says he wants it at 147 pounds. I've not made that weight in twelve years. I don't think I can make even if I cut off both legs. It is physically impossible. Pacquiao is completely ruled out."

Regarding Mayweather -  "With Mayweather it's possible. We're going to make a proposal and carry it forward. It would take place at 150 or 151 pounds. That would be the agreed weight. Mayweather is a possibility and that's quite solid and concrete. You do not need a title for us to fight. But anything is possible."

Regaring WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. - "Chavez does not want to fight me. Therefore, I should get his title [as the mandatory contender], as required by the rules [of the WBC]."

Regarding WBO champion Dmitry Pirog - "We talked about Dmitry Pirog but he needs to make something of himself first and then we'll see. He hasn't done anything but beat a prospect. Good, bad, fair or whatever, but Daniel Jacobs was a prospect. Other boxers that he fought were not at this level. I have no problem fighting with anyone. But I love to fight the best."

Regaring a fight with the winner of the Antonio Margarito-Miguel Cotto rematch - "Margarito is possible. But it has to make sense. We all know what happened with Pacquiao [beating Margarito]. He got hit a lot and he got hurt. Now, if Margarito shows he recovered and he's capable of such a fight, it could get done."
