According to unbeaten WBO light middleweight champion Sergei Dzinziruk, Argentinean pound-for-pound boxer Sergio Gabriel Martinez declined the offer to fight him this autumn. Last time Martinez stepped into the ring was on April 17 when he beat Kelly Pavlik and took his WBC and WBO middleweight titles. However, Martinez currently also holds WBC light middleweight belt. Last week Dzinziruk’s promoters offered Argentinean to hold a unifying bout, but he didn’t answer.

“I’m the only light middleweight world champion with the perfect record”, - told Dzinziruk to his Press Service. – “I won 37 professional fights out of 37. I think that all the other champions have to dream of beating me; it’s a matter of honor. But Martinez for some reason avoids me. In his last three bouts he wasn’t scared to face Kermit Cintron, Paul Williams and Kelly Pavlik. Is he afraid of Dzinziruk?

"I haven’t come to Los-Angeles to lie on the beach and swim in the ocean. I came here to become an absolute world champion. But none of the champions from my division wants to meet me in the ring. I’m sure that I can beat Martinez, as well as Miguel Cotto and Cory Spinks. But for starters I want to fight Martinez. I’ve already beaten Argentineans in my career. In fact I defended my title for the first time against Sebastian Lujan. Probably, Martinez knows Lujan and he told him what he felt in the bout with me. Sergio, I’m counting on your courage. Let’s dance tango in the ring!”
