César Seda Sr., father, trainer and manager of Cesar Seda Jr. (25-2, 17KOs), says that even though his son lost to WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz last Saturday night in San Antonio, he showed he’s ready to be right up there in the elite ranks of boxing. Seda Jr. was defeated by way of a twelve round unanimous decision as part of a Showtime televised quadrupleheader from the Alamodome.

“I think Junito showed he’s at the level of the champion and that Puerto Rico has talent. As his manager I’m happy with his performance even though he didn’t win,” said Seda Sr.

Seda Jr. and Santa Cruz fought a very competitive fight. Seda said that he will take a break and then meet with Golden Boy Promotions to discuss his future. It's possible that he'll have a rematch with Santa Cruz down the line, but he will even consider taking a major fight at 118-pounds.

"We could also go back to 118 pounds, but I feel stronger at 122. This time I lost but we looked good. The promoter liked my fight. I can fight with anyone right now. I think I showed that I'm at this level. The people behind Santa Cruz thought he would kill me up there and got it wrong," Seda Jr. told Carlos Narvaez.
