Veteran light heavyweight Samuel Clarkson (21-5) has been the ring against several up and coming fighters in the light heavyweight and super middleweight divisions over the course of his career.

He last was in the ring in December when he was stopped by Ryad Merhy in Charleroi in 4 rounds.

BoxingScene.com recently caught up with Clarkson, who is hoping to return to the ring soon. The aspiring contender was angling for a spring fight against light heavyweight prospect Ahmed Elbiali, only for those plans to twice fall through.

"We have had a couple offers come up and we immediately said yes. We were supposed to fight Elbiali twice but he backed out both times.  We don't know why . Even though I am coming off of a loss and these guys think I am a B side fighter they still won't fight me," Clarkson stated. "We were supposed to fight on the Jarrett Hurd undercard and that didn't happened and then on the Wilder-Breazeale undercard and that didn't happen either."

Clarkson holds victories over 6 fighters who were either undefeated or had 1 professional loss at the time he fought them.  In his losses he has faced fighters such as WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol and two-time super middleweight title challenger Jesse Hart.

He believes that he is viewed as too much of a risk for many of the contenders in both the 168 and 175 pound division.

"They know I am a dangerous fighter. I am a southpaw and I can fight. I can punch and they know what I can do. I have beat some good fighters and I lost to good fighters. I beat some on short notice and lost to some on short notice.  I am on weight right now. Just 15 pounds away and ready to fight," Clarkson told BoxingScene.com.

The Texas native is still just 28-years-old and finished up our interview by stating that he believes the best is still to come for him.

"I am about to step up and you haven't seen the best of me. I haven't hit my prime just yet.  I want everyone to know that I am coming," Clarkson explained.
