After he received confirmation that WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. signed a contract for February 4, top ranked Marco Antonio "Veneno" Rubio and his team returned to the gym to prepare towards the fight that had so expected. Despite having only 40 days of camp, Rubio is confident that he will be 100% for his match against the Chavez.

"We started to get ready on Monday. We rested just a week after the fight with Matt Vanda. We start with conditioning and tactics," Rubio said. "We are returning from a long training camp for the fight with Matt and the best thing that could have happened was that we finished him early and walked away without an injury.

The stats are clear, 86% of Rubio's wins have come by knockout (46 of 53). Rubio is paranoid of being robbed by the judges and he wants to put Chavez to sleep as early as possible.

"My power, my punch, will benefit us a lot and it's going to play a role in the fight. We know he is a fighter that gets hit with everything you throw. We do not believe that Chavez will be able to withstand the onslaught that I'm going to give him."

"We know that Zbik won the fight but they gave it to Chavez. He's lost at least three times but the judges always favor him, so we do not want to give the judges the opportunity to decide the winner. If he ends the fight standing up, he is almost certain to win. We're going for the knockout from the opening bell and I'm sure I'll succeed."
