Former four division world champion and HBO expert analyst Roy Jones Jr. has his doubts about Marco Antonio Rubio's desire to continue in Saturday's second round knockout loss to WBA/IBO/WBC interim-champion Gennady Golovkin.

After taking a shot to the top of the head, Rubio went down in the second. Although Rubio appeared to have his senses in order, he failed to beat the count of ten. Afterwards, Rubio confirmed that he wasn't seriously hurt from the punch and aggressively complained that referee Jack Reiss prematurely stopped the fight with a fast count.

From what Jones was able to observe from ringside, Rubio appeared to be alert and his senses appeared to be in order, but whether or not he intentionally stayed down was the question.

"I don't know about Rubio. I thought he came out to fight. He was doing pretty good, then he got hit with a good shot on the top of the head and went down. On the canvas he looked as though he was conscious of what was going on but he didn't get up. And when he did get up it was too late. It was like 'are you really waiting until it's too late? do you really want this?' I'm not suggesting that he didn't really try, but I can't really tell. I didn't like what I saw," Jones told BoxingScene.com.
