Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is very interested in the overall outcome of the upcoming rematch between IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz and challenger Anthony Joshua.

The second fight takes place on December 7th in Saudi Arabia.

The first bout took place in June, when Ruiz came in on late notice to drop Joshua four times for a seventh round stoppage.

Both fighters are making adjustments for the rematch.

The adjustments are not only being made in terms of their styles and game plans - but also in the weight department.

Joshua, who has long been criticized for packing on too much muscle, has decided to cut down on some of that mass. And Ruiz, who many feel is packing too much flab, is slimming down and looking trimmer.

Roach gives praise to Joshua for the move - but he disagrees with the decision to slim down Ruiz. He feels Ruiz is a much better fighter when he's heavy - and there are other experts who agree with the well-known coach.

"I think it was a great decision because Joshua is having trouble carrying that muscle around. He was fading in the late rounds. A big body won't really help him. I was really good for him to get that [mass] off," Roach told BoxingScene.com.

"But on the other side I like him better fat. I've always said that he's fought better when he's heavier. He takes punches well, he throws the best combinations in the world. He won the world title as a fat guy. What's wrong with that? They want to make him look like a better person just because he's skinnier? I don't like the move for him. I like him much better when he's heavier. He's a much better fighter when he's heavy. I want him look like a winner and I think that's when he's heavy."
