The Palms, Las Vegas - Two-time Olympic gold medal winner Guillermo Rigondeaux (9-0, 7KOs) captured his first taste of pro gold with a sixth round knockout of previously undefeated Rico Ramos (20-1, 11KOs) to capture the WBA super bantamweight title.

A very cautious and calculated start by both fighters. In the final minute, Rigondeaux landed a shot to the top of the head of Ramos' head and stunned him bad. A combination sent Ramos down. He made it up, with his legs wobbling, and he was lucky the clock ran out as Rigondeaux was trying to finish him off. They were cautious once again at the start of the second. Ramos was doing nothing but being defensive. In the third, Rigondeaux allowed Ramos to take the lead, hoping to find an opening in Ramos' defensive shell.

Ramos got braver in the fourth and tried to land, but there wasn't much being thrown and Rigondeaux countered nearly every time. Finally in the sixth round, Rigondeaux charged Ramos and landed a series of shots to head - lncuding a hard hook to the body that sent Ramos down in pain for the full count of ten.
