A few days ago, lightweight contender Lydell Rhodes tabbed eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao to dominate Adrien Broner, who captured world titles in four different weight classes.

Currently there are rumors of a potential comeback by Pacquiao. A date of October 15th has been reserved by Top Rank at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Pacquiao retired in April after winning a twelve round decision over Timothy Bradley in their trilogy fight.

Rhodes is very close with Pacquiao. The Filipino superstar has hired him numerous times as a sparring partner for training camp.

The opponent being mentioned for Pacquiao is another fighter that Rhodes is familiar with. Promoter Bob Arum, the CEO for Top Rank, says Broner is a frontrunner candidate for the contest - if Pacquiao decides to return to the ring.

If Pacquiao manages to dominate Broner from bell to bell, Rhodes believes Mayweather would come out of retirement to do a rematch with the Filipino star. Mayweather announced his retirement from boxing last September.

"Yeah I could see Floyd coming out of retirement for that. If Manny goes out there and dominated Broner — who is calling out Floyd — and stops him, then Manny looks rejuvenated. Then you could have another close to a billion dollar fight. It was crazy how much money they brought to the city," Rhodes told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

Mayweather fought Pacquiao last May in the richest fight in boxing history. The fight lacked fireworks and saw Mayweather box his way to a twelve round decision. While Rhodes is very close with Pacquiao, he's not sure if anything different would happen the second time around.

"I don’t know if the result would change, but I know it would be a totally different fight. Floyd is hard, he has a great style for anyone, he can adjust and do whatever he wants to anyone. I’m all about team Manny, so I would hope for the best but I can’t really tell you who would win that fight," Rhodes said.
