Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov and Joe Cordina are set for their rescheduled title fight.

The roles are swapped from when they were due to meet last fall, with Rakhimov in possession of the IBF junior lightweight title previously held by Cordina. Both boxers made weight for their scheduled 12-round bout atop a DAZN show this Saturday from Cardiff International Arena in Cardiff, Wales.

Rakhimov—a Tajikistan native who trains out of Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California—was 129.4 pounds (129 pounds, 7 ounces) as he attempts his first title defense. Cardiff’s own Cordina was 129 ¾ pounds in his bid to become a two-time IBF titlist.

Rakhimov (17-0-1, 14KOs) won the vacant IBF title in a ninth-round knockout of Zelfa Barrett last November 5 in Abu Dhabi. The unbeaten southpaw was originally due to challenge Cordina, who had to withdraw and relinquish the title after suffering a broken hand injury during his first day of training camp.

Cordina won the belt in this very arena in his previous outing, a sensational second-round knockout of Japan’s Kenichi Ogawa last June 3. The 31-year-old Welshman is a -300 favorite according to bet365 sportsbook to regain his title.

In the co-feature, Derby’s Sandy Ryan and Canada’s Marie Pier Houle collide for the vacant WBO welterweight title.

Ryan (5-1, 2KOs) was 146.4 pounds, while the visiting Houle (8-0-1, 2KOs)—fighting for the first time outside of North America—was 145.6 pounds.

Both enter their first career title fight. The opportunity comes for a title that was relinquished by two-division and lineal welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill, who let go of the IBF and WBO belts in recent months.
