Unbeaten middleweight world titleholder Peter Quillin expects a strong challenge from challenger Fernando Guerrero, but is confident he will successfully defend his title on April 27th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

The bout, along with the Danny Garcia-Zab Judah world title bout will be televised on Showtime and is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions.

“When Guerrero signed the contract to fight me, it’s like he signed a contract to try and beat me,” the outspoken Quillin told Boxingscene.com before a training session at the Wild Card gym West in Santa Monica on Monday afternoon.

“He thinks he could beat me, but signing on the dotted line is the biggest mistake of his career. I’m training to dominate him on April 27th.”

Most of the press in recent weeks has been on other middleweight world title holders in Sergio Martinez (who fights on the same date in Argentina) and Gennady Golovkin.

Quillin is not bothered by the lack of press on him and instead, it has motivated him to work harder during training camp.

“It’s about me and I’m proud to be the only American middleweight champion. I just want to be the best that I can be.”
