Quatavious Cash is extra motivated for his Top Rank debut on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, as the fight will take place on the date of his late mother's birthday.

Cash has had an incredible story in boxing, with his inception into the professional ranks not coming without its ups and downs. The native of Georgia went ten fights undefeated, but midway through those ten fights, in 2014, Cash was shot after an altercation in his native Atlanta. The Super Welterweight opened up about the events that led to his shooting and how he came back from it.

Cash stated, "I have people around me who are involved in gangs, it's not something I have ever been a part of but I have been around them as that is the reality of life growing up in underprivileged areas in the United States. One night there was a confrontation between my cousin and a gang member, I tried to break it up and I was shot as they believed I was a gang member which I wasn't.

"I was shot in the leg and it was hard, but when I was in the hospital all I thought about was training, that's all I wanted to do. It motivated me to get back to boxing and it kept me humble as you are not guaranteed anything in life, including life itself.

Cash continued opening up about his relationship with his mother, "June 9 is my mother's birthday. She helped me so much when I first came to Vegas and backed me even when she was in her last days. She did everything to see me succeed right till the end and it feels fitting that I make my Top Rank debut on June 9.

"My mother was there for me right till the very end, supporting everything I did in boxing and here in Las Vegas where I have been based for years now. I know that I am ready to put on the performance of my life in front of a massive audience on ESPN. I am so grateful to my management team Victory Sports and Entertainment for getting me this opportunity and I'm ready to take it with both hands."

Cash has shared the ring in preparation for this clash with fellow Victory Sports and Entertainment stablemate Shane Mosley Jr and the 28-year-old discussed the gym work between the pair.

Cash said, "Shane Mosley Jnr is so naturally gifted. He has come on so much under the guidance of Justin Gamber and also being around the camp of Caleb Plant must also have really helped too. It has been fantastic work with Shane and I'm very grateful for all of his help. I'm excited to see Shane back in the ring in the coming months.

"My coach Chirs Benchavtchavadze has got me in the best shape in my life and we've worked really well in camp prior to this fight. I am just ready to get going now and thank you to Top Rank, ESPN, Mike Leanardi and Rick Torres who have given me this opportunity that I am ready to take with both hands."
