Heavyweight European champion Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9 KOs) was attentively watching a Saturday’s battle between Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KOs) and Steve Cunningham (25-6, 12 KOs). The Briton won by knockout in the 7th round, but was floored in the 2nd, and had serious problems with the former cruiserweight champion. Pulev believes that Fury’s performance fell short of an idealwin.

"Fury didn’t impress me at all. Steve Cunningham doesn’t come from the heavyweight division. Fury tired Cunningham out using his strength, but I spotted serious blanks in Tyson’s defense. Such mistakes cost you dear in boxing,” Pulev said to Bulgarian media.

Thanks to the win over Cunningham Fury will be move up to the 2nd spot in the IBF rankings. According to previous reports, Fury should face Pulev in a final eliminator later this year. The Bulgarian fighter states he’s ready for such a challenge.

“If Fury is true to his word, he should face me next. We will see in the ring who is better. I’m not going to demand a big payment. The Fury’s biggest asset is a fact, that he’s a bit taller than me, but the body mass is my advantage. Fury weighs 115 kilos, I weigh 117”.
