Paul came out bouncing on his toes and landed a solid body shot. Paul went right after Diaz with heavy punches to the head. Diaz was rocked and was taking a lot of punches. Diaz was holding on and looking to survive the onslaught. The right eye of Diaz was swelling up. Diaz landed a few pawing shots, but there wasn't much power on the blows.

In the second, Diaz had little to no boxing technique. Diaz was trying to make it a brawl on the inside, but he wasn't properly putting his punches together. Paul was landing the quality shots. During the third, Diaz came back charging and looking for an inside fight. Paul was landing uppercuts. Diaz was connecting, but it was Paul connecting with the harder shots.

The fourth saw Diaz come forward, but eating punches for his trouble. Diaz was starting to put his punches together on Paul and making Paul hold on in the final minute. In the fifth, Paul landed a big shot to the temple that sent Diaz down. Diaz beat the count, with Paul going right after him with big punches. Diaz was able to weather the storm.

Diaz came out pressing Paul in the sixth. Diaz had a decent round as Paul may have been a bit winded. Paul was sticking and moving in the seventh, making Diaz work to get to him. Diaz was having trouble getting Paul, who was boxing well. Diaz was landing as well, but not enough pop on his shots.

The eight saw Paul come out boxing and moving. Diaz was pressing forward but not landing initially. However, he would begin to let his hands go, connecting often and forced Paul go on the run. In the ninth, Paul was boxing well and landing punches to the head and body. Diaz was landing at times in close and let his hands fly in the final thirty seconds.
