Liverpool heavyweight David Price continued to rebuild his career with a bizarre fifth round disqualification over Birmingham’s previously unbeaten but untested Kash Ali who bit the local man as the two were wrapped up on the canvas.
Price, who has been beaten by KO at fringe world-level or above six times previously, jabbed well in the opening two rounds as Ali boxed within himself, perhaps anticipating that Price would tire.

Ali began looking for opportunities to make it a dirty fight, having a point taken off in the third for rabbit punching, before Price handed a crunching right uppercut in the fourth as the untested Ali appeared to settle into something of a sparring partner mentality. Still, Price looked to be blowing hard by the end of the session.

Ali at last showed some ambition in the fifth round as he trapped Price on the ropes and landed his looping right hand, with the scouser beginning to look exhausted. Suddenly Price landed with a beautiful right hand which stunned Ali, making him hold Price tightly until the two crashed to the canvas. There, Ali outrageously bit Price, reminding ringsiders perhaps of Mike Tyson’s infamous rematch with Evander Holyfield.
Despite the nature of the victory, Price is propelled forward with a useful win and into some likely big domestic matches. Price moves to 24-6, which the shamed Ali drops to 15-1.
