IBF junior welterweight champion Lamont Peterson (32-2-1, 16KOs) prepares for a defense of his title in a Showtime televised fight against Edgar Santana (29-4, 20KOs). The fight will be part of a tripleheader on August 9th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The main event will feature WBA/WBC junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia in a non-title ten round fight against Rod Salka.

If Peterson and Garcia win their fights, then the two of them will get matched against each other in the final quarter of the year.

"Without winning this fight, there's no Garcia fight. Even if I win there might not be, so all I can do is focus on Edgar Santana," Peterson said.

"I've seen Edgar Santana fight; he can definitely fight. People haven't seen him so they don't think he deserves it. But he's been around for a while and still fighting. It's a tough task to stay in this game for 10 years."

"There's not a lot of guys you can go to in the 140-pound weight class that are all-time great fighters. My goal is to put my name on that list. Winning all the belts is the way to do it, even though they don't mean that much to me."
