Matchroom Boxing’s latest signing Paul Butler (24-1, 13 KOs) says he will win his rematch with Stuart Hall (21-5-2, 7 KOs) “much clearer” when the pair top the bill on September 30 at Liverpool’s Echo Arena, live on Sky Sports.

Butler, 28, from Ellesmere Port, was announced as the new addition to Eddie Hearn’s ranks at a press conference today in the city and went to face-to-face with the man he beat in June 2014 to win the IBF Bantamweight title.

This time the pair will square off in a WBA world title eliminator with the winner likely having one eye on another bantamweight rematch between WBA Regular champion Jamie McDonnell and Liborio Solis.

“This is a massive stage for me. It’s a huge test, straight in at the deep end rematching Stuart,” Butler told the media at today’s presser.

“It was a tight fight last time but I’ll win much clearer time this around.”

Hall, another member of the Matchroom stable said: “I’m over the moon with this fight. I’m coming to his back yard this time, I’m very confident.”

Three years ago, it was Butler who went to Hall’s back yard, to snatch the IBF 118lbs title from the champion. Butler, who was moving up from super flyweight, gained a split decision verdict with scores of 113-115, 117-111 and 115-113. The British ‘Baby Faced Assassin’ would then vacate the title to move back down to super flyweight where he would lose to IBF champion Zolani Tete when the talented South African stopped Butler in the eighth round with one of the knockouts of 2015.

Hall, 37, has found something of a second wind in his career with a thrilling win over Rodrigo Guerrero last year before narrowly losing out on points to rival Lee Haskins when the two met for the IBF Bantamweight title last September. A result that many thought should have gone the other way.

Also confirmed today as part of the September 30 card was Rocky Fielding’s first British super middleweight title defence which comes against Commonwealth champion David Brophy.

“He’s coming off a good win,” Fielding (24-1, 13 KOs) said earlier of Brophy (19-1-1, 3 KOs) who went to Australia in March to rip the Commonwealth title from Zac Dunn with an impressive seventh round stoppage.

“I’ve sparred him so I know what he’s about. I’m confident,” Fielding added.

Also on the bill Sean ‘Masher’ Dodd (13-2-1, 2 KOs) and Thomas Stalker (12-2-3, 2 KOs) will aim to settle their recent escalated feud with Dodd’s Commonwealth and WBC International Lightweight titles on the line.

“I’ve wanted this fight for a year now! I’ll punch Masher’s head all over the place,” Stalker vowed.

The champion responded by telling the former Olympian: “You can’t fight to save your life!”

“To me he’s just a target. I have to fight whoever to continue my career. He’ll respect me after the fight.”

Dodd is also scheduled to fight on August 19 at Prenton Park, Birkenhead. An opponent, however, is still to be announced.

Ohara Davies, who recently lost his unbeaten record in his own grudge match against Josh Taylor, aims to bounce back quickly when he faces local lad Tom Farrell for the latter’s WBA International Super-Lightweight title.

The rest of the card sees Olympians Anthony Fowler and Natasha Jonas make debuts in front of their home support, while Craig Glover returns to action in his fifth professional contest.
