It was a physical and grueling affair at the StubHub Center in Carson on Saturday night as Oscar Valdez was taken the distance by the hard-charging and heavy Scott Quigg, who failed to make the featherweight limit and therefore was not eligible to win Valdez's WBO 126-pound title.

Valdez in winning suffered a broken jaw and lost a tooth, as he faced a much heavier Quigg on fight night.

His manager, Frank Espinoza told BoxingScene.com that he's - ''very upset, very pissed off" - over the circumstances that led into this bout that was televised by ESPN.

"We did what we had to do, we came in at 126, it was unprofessional on Quigg's part and his coach (Freddie Roach) that they came in at 128.8. I thought we came to an agreement but we obviously didn't," said Espinoza. "I offered them to do a second day weight in, 126 to 136 (pounds), they disagreed. At the end of the day the commission didn't enforce that. I think you put a fighter in danger when you put a fighter in there that weights way more than we did. So I'm very upset about this situation."

Quigg reportedly came into the ring at 142, above the junior welterweight division.

"Even at the weigh-in I saw him and said to myself,' he looks likely he's overweight' and sure enough he was. So my understanding is he came in at 142 the day of the fight and I think we were at 135," said Espinoza, who's fighter actually came in at just over 136 pounds.

Espinoza wants to make it clear that it was not their side that refused to do a day-off weigh-in, which is customary when one boxer does not make weight.

''That's total bullsh*t, it's the other way around," he stated.

"They weren't available, they didn't come to the table We didn't negotiate anything, they just said flat out no. We wanted the second day weigh-in, we pushed for it. They weren't on board."
