Kiev, Ukraine #1 Ranked Cruiserweight Contender Oleksandr Usyk, (9-0, 9KO’s) stopped world ranked, once beaten Pedro “El Reguilete” Rodriguez, (21-2, 19KO’s), of Miami, Florida in seven rounds at the Sport Palace in Kiev, Ukraine.

It was tough early on and Rodriguez landed some decent shots, but Usyk began to take over the fight was each passing round. He dropped Rodriguez after breaking him down late in the sixth.

Usyk went back on the attack at the start of the seventh round when he pinned Rodriguez against the ropes and unloaded with a series of punches to send him down for a second time. Rodriguez beat the count, but the referee felt he was in no condition to fight on and waved off the contest.

Presented by K2 Promotions Ukraine, Usyk made the fourth defense of his WBO Inter-Continental Cruiserweight Title.

Rodriguez's previous defeat came at the hands of heavyweight puncher Magomed Abdusalamov in 2012.
