Ohara Davies has had his ring return brought forward.

The Hackney lightweight was set for title action in Scotland next week but will instead box abroad this weekend.

Davies (12-0, 10 KOs) had been scheduled to box Willie Limond, as part of the undercard to Ricky Burns’ mandatory WBA super-lightweight title defence against Kiryl Relikh at the SSE Hydro on October 7, live on Sky Sports, but Limond withdrew from the fight.

It was then thought that ‘Two Tanks’, who is the current English champion at 135lbs, would remain on that card in an eight-round contest.

However, Davies has been added to the undercard of Juergen Braehmer’s WBA ‘regular’ light-heavyweight title defence against Wales’ Nathan Cleverly on October 1. He will fight an opponent to be named over six rounds.

The show at the Jahnsportforum in Neubrandenburg will be aired on Sky Sports and is fast becoming a showcase event for British boxing hopefuls with heavyweight David Price and middleweight Anthony Ogogo already named among those on the bill.

Davies is rumoured to be lining up for a shot at the British champion Tyrone Nurse and will be hoping that he can send out a convincing message to the Huddersfield man ahead of a potential crack at the domestic crown.

Watch Davies, Price and Ogogo in action on the undercard of Braehmer v Cleverly, live from 8pm on Sky Sports 2, this Saturday.
