Veteran trainer Naazim Richardson was very disappointed with Tyson Fury's huge upset over Wladimir Klitschko last month to capture the WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO heavyweight titles in Germany.

Naazim is very familiar with Fury. He trained Steve Cunningham for his bout with Fury in 2013. Cunningham did rather well in the contest, by dropping Fury in the second round before finally getting overpowered and stopped in the seventh. At the of the stoppage, Cunningham was winning a close majority decision on the cards.

Klitschko barely threw any punches against Fury. Naazim believes he was scared and that Fury was more than happy to sit back and outwork him.

"We saw a fight where one heavyweight was scared and the other one was glad he was. It put a black eye on us, this is our sport, I’m an advocate of the sport and it hurt us. It was a horrible performance," Naazim told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

An immediate rematch has been set between the two heavyweights. If Klitschko lets his hands go, just a little bit more per round, Naazim views that as being a big difference from the first contest.

"Klitschko has a great upside to the rematch because he can do something he didn’t do last fight, he can try. If he just tries he will do better than the last fight. He doesn’t have to do much to be better than what he was in the last fight. He can throw five punches more and it will be better than the last fight. You will have to say, “Well it was far more than the last fight.” It was a horrible performance. Two of the worst heavyweight championships that I’ve seen involved Klitschko. Klitschko vs. Povetkin wasn’t much better," Naazim said.
