Less than three days into the sale of Kell Brook’s fight with Matthew Hatton at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield on March 17 and the ticket sales have smashed through the 5,000 barrier.

Promoter Eddie Hearn announced the huge all-British Welterweight clash between Brook and Hatton on Wednesday afternoon and the phone lines at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield and at Matchroom Sport have been buzzing ever since with fans snapping up tickets for the event, live on Sky Sports.

“I’m bowled over by the response from the fans,” said Brook. “I knew this was going to be a big seller but these numbers are massive and it’s only going to get bigger. Fighting in front of a sell-out crowd is going to bring out the best in both of us.”

Hearn revealed on Wednesday that the Arena was set up for 9,000 fans but after the huge demand for tickets, it is likely that he will open up the full arena at some point next week.

“The response has been phenomenal and both Kell and Matthew are thrilled that they will be fighting in front of such a huge crowd,” said Hearn. “I always knew that Kell would be a massive draw in his home town against the right opponent and we are heading towards a sell-out crowd that a fight of this magnitude deserves. This is a big fight for British boxing and the first of many that we will deliver in 2012.”
