MOBILE, AL.--The Mobile, Alabama,  Police Department provided plainclothed detectives and officers to keep the peace at Wednesday's Roy Jones Jr. Anthony-Hanshaw press conference held at the Mobile Civic Center. Tempers have been running high between the two camps with Hanshaw trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr labeling the legendary Jones "a no chin, washed up bum" and with Jones trainer Alton Merkerson responding that "the only bum around here is Mayweather."

Early Wednesday morning at the IP Casino-Resort-Spa, Coach Merk stepped right up to Mayweather, a former boxer and the father of Floyd Mayweather Jr. They exchanged some verbal jabs but were physically separated by hotel security personnel.

After the presser in 'Bama, Mayweather turned into an Alabama Slammer, verbally accosting octogenarian Lou Duva and nearly taking a swing at the elderly Hall Of Fame trainer.

"Floyd went off on Lou," witness Akbar Muhammad said. "I had to jump in the middle. They were going to fight in front of the limousines. Floyd yelled at Lou for picking Jones to win the fight and asked him why he sat on Hanshaw's side of the dais. Lou said he sat there because it was the only empty chair.

"It brought back memories of the time that Floyd Senior's brother, Roger, threw a punch in the ring at Duva after Mayweather fought Lou's guy, Vinnie Pazienza."

Promoter Murad Muhammad promised extra security also for Thursday final prefight press conference at 10:30 in the Chill Ultra Lounge at the IP Casino-Resort-Spa. The Official Weigh In will take place in the Chill Friday promptly at 4 p.m.

ROY JONES: "I want to thank all of you good people for coming out in Mobile today. I love the people of Mobile, of Pensacola, of Biloxi, of the entire Gulf Coast. The Gulf Coast is coming back and I am coming back. My opponent is a young, undefeated guy who calls himself the Tyger. I brought him down here  to tame him. I tame tigers. I got hold in all that I am feeling right now until fight time, Saturday night. I am bringing the people what they want, a real deal fighter. I am not a bad guy but I do get edgy and testy the week of a fight.

(Regarding Hanshaw being barred from Jones' training setup at the IP Casino-Resort-Spa, Biloxi) "If someone asks if we can use your house today, you would also say I think not. If they had asked in advance and asked me politely, it might have been a different answer. But I am coming to fight."

Jones then refused to pose for any photographs with Hanshaw.

ANTHONY HANSHAW: "I want to say this now, right to Roy's face...Roy, you have been knocked out by (Antonio Tarver, by (Glenn) Johnson...this will be another repeat on July 14."

MURAD MUHAMMAD: "This fight will be seen in 380 countries around the world, all in High Definition.

The IP Casino-Resort-Spa is the necessary gasoline for this event. The IP is like the gasoline you put in your car. If you don't put in any gasoline, your car does not go anywhere. I want to thank President & GM Jon Lucas and everyone else at this great facility. They really stepped up to the plate and together we're going to hit a home run with this event."

LOU DUVA: "This kid here Tony Hanshaw is a tough competitor. But Roy Jones comes to fight. He has great character inside and outside the ring. He is good for boxing and he helps everyone. I look for Roy...this will be a fight toe to-toe, one helluva fight. Both trainers Floyd Mayweather Sr. (Hanshaw) and Alton Merkerson (Jones) are great teachers and the fighters are lucky to have them.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR.: "Roy is over, his career is over. Tony will knock him out."
