MGM Grand, Las Vegas - In a rematch of their May encounter, Floyd Mayweather Jr. (47-0, 26KOs) retained his WBC/WBA welterweight titles with a twelve round unanimous decision over Marcos Maidana (35-5, 31KOs). The scores were 115-112, 116-111, 116-111. Mayweather won a twelve round majority decision the first time around. It was only the second rematch of Mayweather's career and the first for Maidana.

Mayweather claimed that Maidana bit him during a clinch in the eight round and his hand was affected.

"He bit my fingers so my hand was numb. After that round I couldn't use my left hand as much. I didn't want to just stay on the ropes. He's a tough opponent but I did what I had to do. I got a couple of bumps and bruises but I listened to my dad and it was hit but not get hit. I felt sharper in the first fight, my rhythm was off. I'd give myself a C for that performance, though, maybe a C-. I got hit a few times and I know I'm better than that," Mayweather said.
